Showcasing Graduate Research at UNC

Graduate Research Symposium combines Graduate Research Evening and the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition.

The fall 2024 Graduate Research Symposium will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, in the University Center and Campus Commons. You may register here. The tentative schedule is:

  • 4-4:45 p.m. Symposium speakers: Matthew Farber, Ed.D., and William Merchant, Ph.D.
  • 5-6 p.m. Oral Presentation Session 1
  • 6-7 p.m. Oral Presentation Session 2
  • 5-7 p.m. Poster Sessions
  • 7:15-8:30 p.m. 3MT® Competition

Graduate Research Evening provides graduate students from across the university the opportunity to present their research projects. Participating graduate students are also eligible for the Hutchinson-Lahman Research Award.

The Three Minute Thesis is a professional development competition that spotlights the dissertation or thesis projects of doctoral or master's students at UNC. Students completing a dissertation or thesis in any UNC doctoral or master’s program are eligible to submit a 3MT® proposal. Online individual coaching sessions will take place in November in preparation for the Dec. 10, competition.
